In a series of viral photos taken at the 2022 Academy Museum Gala on Oct. 15, Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez posed for a photo together, seemingly squashing any alleged drama, all while putting their designer looks on full display. Bieber, 25, and Gomez, 30, each exuded her own brand of sophistication, with the styling help of Karla Welch and Kate Young, respectively. While the supermodel and Rhode founder opted for a strapless, chocolate brown Saint Laurent dress with a sweetheart neckline and cutout at the stomach, the songstress and Wondermind creator went for a slick Armani pantsuit.
Bieber’s look came with ruching at the bust and waist and a tassel of excess fabric that framed her torso. The Tiffany & Co. ambassador played up the autumnal tones with an auburn gemstone choker from the jeweler and Irinel de León parted her straight brown hair down the center. Makeup artist Mary Phillips lent her touch with a slightly smoky eye, soft pink blush, and heavily lined nude lip, while Zola Ganzorigt swiped on an earthy brown polish to accent her wedding ring stack. While she didn’t wear them to the event, Bieber played around with a pair of shield sunglasses to cater to her ’90s vibe behind the scenes.
Gomez’s own impeccably tailored Armani separates were laid over a black Wolford bodysuit and finished with strappy sandals. Her Cartier diamond drop earrings offered an air of elegance and were highlighted with an assortment of delicate gold hoops, drawing attention to her glittering gold eyeshadow, courtesy of Melissa Murdick. Marissa Marino‘s center part also spoke to the ’90s-inspired look. Meanwhile, Tom Bachik provided a glossy manicure to lay the foundation for a chunky panther ring, along with a milk-bath pedicure.
Bieber and Gomez’s meetup at the LA-based reception — honoring Miky Lee, Steve McQueen, Tilda Swinton, and Julia Roberts for their work in cinema — was thrust into the spotlight, but their peers also stepped out in a slew of high-fashion ensembles.
