The latest trailer for Tim Burton’s highly anticipated “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has been released this morning, promising to bring fans both nostalgia and new thrills. The sequel to the 1988 classic sees Michael Keaton returning as the mischievous ghost Beetlejuice, alongside Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz. Joining them is Jenna Ortega, playing Lydia’s rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid Deetz.
The storyline of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” centers around the Deetz family returning to Winter River after a tragic event. In the attic of their home, Astrid discovers a model of the town and unwittingly opens a portal to the afterlife, releasing Beetlejuice. As chaos ensues in both the living world and the afterlife, it’s only a matter of time before someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times, unleashing his unique brand of mayhem.
The trailer hints at a blend of old and new, with practical effects and stop-motion animation reminiscent of the original film. Burton emphasized his commitment to these traditional techniques, aiming to capture the handmade feel that made the original a cult favorite.
In addition to the main cast, the sequel features Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, and Justin Theroux in new roles. The film, written by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and Seth Grahame-Smith, continues the legacy of its predecessor, which followed a deceased couple attempting to haunt the Deetz family out of their home with Beetlejuice’s help.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024, bringing with it a mixture of nostalgic elements and fresh additions that are sure to delight both longtime fans and newcomers.
