“What’s your plan?” “I’m going to blow the F his brains out! Capelight Pictures has revealed a full trailer for a hilarious B-movie horror creation called Rippy, formerly known as The Red. It’s a kooky Australian comedy horror about a violent, killer kangaroo. When locals in a country town start being killed by a zombie kangaroo, the local sheriff must face her past and work with her eccentric uncle to defeat the beast before it kills everyone. The filmmakers explain: “It explores the conflict between obligation and freedom of choice, the grief of losing a loved one and the lies we tell ourselves, and each other, to protect the memories of those that have passed. It is also about a 7 foot tall undead kangaroo, and the start of the apocalypse. The Red is a horror comedy film influenced by classic creature features such as The Thing, An American Werewolf in London, Jaws and Razorback.” Starring Tess Haubrich, Michael Biehn, Angie Milliken, and Aaron Pederson. Shot entirely in Australia, of course. This looks like a fun pizza & beer movie and nothing more.
Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Ryan Coonan’s film Rippy, direct from YouTube:
“Rippy’s gone rogue.” A young sheriff, obsessed with living up to her dead father’s legacy, finds her mettle tested to the limit when locals start being found ripped to shreds. Now she must finally face up to her past, and work with her eccentric Vietnam Veteran uncle to defeat the beast before it kills everyone in town. Rippy, also known as The Red, is directed by Australian indie writer / filmmaker Ryan Coonan, making his feature directorial debut after a few other short films previously. The screenplay is co-written by Ryan Coonan and Richard Barcaricchio. Produced by Jessica Butland, Judd Tilyard, Liz Tomkins, and Richard Barcaricchio. This is already set to open in Australia in October. Capelight Pictures will also debut Coonan’s Rippy in select US theaters + on VOD starting October 18th, 2024 this fall. Who wants to watch this? 🦘
