“We have to fight. There is no other choice.” Apple TV has unveiled the trailer for a documentary film titled Bread & Roses, from filmmaker Sahra Mani. This originally premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and will arrive in US theaters later this year. In the shadow of Kabul’s fall, three women from Afghanistan fight to reclaim their lives. Bread & Roses is produced by Jennifer Lawrence & Malala Yousafzai, and captures the spirit of Afghan women in their relentless quest for autonomy. A moving portrayal of strength amid struggle, this acclaimed film shines a light on their resilience, featuring the spirit of Afghani women through a raw depiction of their harrowing plight. Reviews are positive, stating the film “does a remarkable job of reminding the world both of women’s rights but also our human responsibility to the women of Afghanistan. It deserves not only our attention but also our action.” Another vitally important documentary.
