“You can’t like someone right now because you could kill them.” Peacock has unveiled the full official trailer for a sex comedy series called Laid, created by Nahnatchka Khan (Always Be My Maybe, Totally Killer) and Sally Bradford McKenna. The funny teaser debuted just last month. It’s based on the Australian series of the same name (from 2011) and is streaming on Peacock in the US this December. A woman finds out her former lovers are dying in unusual ways and must go through her sex timeline to confront her complicated past in order to move forward. That sounds awkward & amusing! “The premise of Laid — a woman discovers all of her exes are dying in mysterious ways — [was] exactly what we were looking for: a F–ed-up rom-com.” Laid stars Stephanie Hsu as Ruby and Zosia Mamet as her best friend AJ. The main cast also includes Michael Angarano and Tommy Martinez, and exciting guest stars like Finneas O’Connell, Andre Hyland, Olivia Holt, David Denman, Chloe Fineman, and John Early. Glad this has more footage, because it looks like the relationship she strikes up with Angarano will be really wholesome and meaningful.

To her horror, Ruby (Hsu) finds out her former lovers are dying in unusual ways and must go through her sex timeline to confront her past in order to move forward. Laid is described as a ‘F-ed up rom-com’ where the answer to ‘Why can’t I find love, is there something wrong with me?’ is a resounding ‘Yes. There is. The problem is definitely you.'” The creators add: “Please enjoy as Ruby searches for love, along with help from her best friend AJ who makes Ruby’s sex timeline so she can track down all of her exes — the guys, the girls, the one-night stands, the man she only remembers as ‘Green Day Shirt’ — to tell them… they’re going to die. It’s truly the love story for our times.” Laid is a series co-created and showrun and written by Nahnatchka Khan (director of the films Always Be My Maybe and Totally Killer) and Sally Bradford McKenna. Based on the Australian series also called “Laid” created by Kirsty Fisher and Marieke Hardy. With writing by Abbey Caldwell, Jeff Chiang, Billy Finnegan, Ria Sardana, David Smithyman. And episodes directed by Maurice Marable & Nahnatchka Khan. Exec produced by Stephanie Hsu, John Davis, John Fox, Jennifer Carreras, Marieke Hardy, Kirsty Fisher, Liz Watts, Nahnatchka Khan & Sally Bradford McKenna. Peacock will debut Laid streaming on Peacock starting on December 19th, 2024 later this year. Who’s in?
