Oasis have shared the official live recording of ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ from their residency at Manchester’s Heaton Park – take a listen below.

The Britpop legends have just finished up five giant shows in their hometown, which kicked off on July 11 and ended on the 20th.

Now, they have shared a live recording of ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ from the opening night – with fans screaming along from the song’s first lines. Taken from their classic 1994 debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’, the song remains as raw and raucous as ever, with Liam Gallagher‘s mightily powerful voice soaring over the top.

During a short instrumental break midway through the song, Liam can be heard exclaiming: “Well that was fucking biblical; beautiful. Respect”.

After ripping through the rest of the song without letting up any energy, the frontman appears to say at the end: “[I’m] sayin’ 95 was good shit, innit man! Good shit… fucking good shit.”

The Gallagher brothers’ visit to Heaton Park followed their highly-anticipated opening night in Cardiff, which NME hailed in a five-star review: “Lord knows we needed a taste of that halcyon ‘90s hope and abandon in 2025 – especially for the raving and craving Gen-Zers. The world is a rotting shitty bin-fire and tomorrow never knows, but tonight, you’re a rock’n’roll star.”

They’re soon to play London’s Wembley Stadium, whose door, stage times and support acts have just been revealed. Starting from this Friday (July 25), doors will open at 5pm with Cast delivering the first support set of the evening at 6pm BST.

Richard Ashcroft will then take to the stage at 7pm BST, where Oasis, who last performed at Wembley in 2009, will kick off at 8:15pm BST.

The newly reunited Liam and Noel Gallagher finally played Manchester after 16 years away – see the setlist for the opening night here. Performing to a huge crowd of 80,000 fans for five sold-out concerts at Heaton Park, the event saw ticketless Oasis fans try to jump the fence (and eventually get arrested), flock to a local pub to listen and gather on a nearby viewing point dubbed ‘Gallagher Hill’, where viewers could see the screens from afar.

However, when the hill was eventually fenced off, fans scaled the walls anyway in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the brothers.

Liam would eventually dedicate ‘Bring It On Down’ to those watching from the Hill, and hand out shirts to viewers at the Hill on the final night while live streaming the viewpoint: “I just want to say to all Mancunians you’ve done yourself fucking proud.”

It also saw the band pay tribute to the Man City manager Pep Guardiola, who was spotted in the crowd for the first of the five shows. Other celebrities spotted include The 1975’s Matty Healy – who previously urged the brothers to reunite despite Noel branding him a “slack-jawed fuckwit”.

Elsewhere, Liam Gallagher has made a joke about Coldplay’s “kiss cam” incident: “Don’t worry… we don’t have that Coldplay camera here”.
