Recently, General Hospital brought back one of its beloved characters. Played by Ryan Paevey, Nathan West seems to be back from the dead after previously dying from a gunshot. However, fans are now suspicious of him being an imposter. Let’s look at what’s going on behind this shocking return and why fans aren’t convinced it’s the real Nathan West.
Is Ryan Paevey’s Nathan an imposter on General Hospital?
The return of Paevey’s Nathan West has caused much confusion among the GH audience. Viewers reacted strongly, mainly because they had presumed him dead after a fatal shooting in 2018. Now, because of this sudden twist, the audience doesn’t know what to think.
When asked about his comeback in September, Paevey told TV Insider in an interview about executive producer Frank Valentini’s ideas. “He said they had some ideas for a few other characters that were in my orbit and was wondering if I might be willing to come back so they could make some of that arc a little bit richer,” he revealed. Further commenting on the plot of his return, he shared, “This go-round is definitely going to be wildly different than the last one was. We’ve got some fun stuff planned. We’re going to stir the pot. I wouldn’t come back for something vanilla. It’s going to be a blast.”
In September, Paevey returned to the show when his character Nathan West landed in the hospital after a car crash and seemed to remember nothing about the past years. However, the tiny detail that brought about the most ambiguity among fans was Britt’s reaction to seeing Nathan alive. Fans noticed that she wasn’t as excited as her mother to see her brother alive and was, in fact, tense. While the community comes up with a wide range of fan theories, it does seem likely that Paevey has returned as a surprise character and not as Nathan West.
