Statistics estimate that a shocking 300,000 people in the United States drive while under the influence daily. A slim number of those are caught and arrested. In fact, DUI arrests rarely happen the first time someone drives drunk. A popular Top Chef contestant was caught driving under the influence after striking a mailbox.
Kelsey Clark was a contestant on Season 19 of the Bravo show. She was already an established owner of a catering company and restaurant in Dothan, Alabama. She specializes in Southern food with a French twist.
Her career has flourished in the years since her Top Chef win. She released two cookbooks, Southern Grit: 100+ Down-Home Recipes for the Modern Cook and Southern Get-Togethers: A Guide to Hosting Unforgettable Gatherings. Her third cookbook, The Flavor of Fire: Recipes for Grilling & Smoking with Southern Flair, is scheduled to come out in May.
Kelsey Clark is a frequent competitor and guest chef on the Food Network. But now her entire career is in doubt after a shocking DUI arrest. The chef, 35, was arrested on Wednesday, January 21, on suspicion of DUI and spent the night in jail. The local police received a call about a car striking a mailbox.
When they arrived on the scene, they found Kelsey Clark. WTVY reported that the police officers smelled alcohol on her breath, and she failed the field sobriety tests.

No other details were released about whether she was bailed out of jail or the next steps in the case. However, multiple outlets shared the shocking news that Kelsey Clark’s two children, Monroe, 8, and Evelyn, 5, were in the car when it crashed into a mailbox.
Luckily, no one in the car was injured. Top Chef fans took to Reddit to share their reactions to Kelsey Clark’s DUI arrest.
