Dove and Nike’s new partnership promotes body confidence for girls in sports
Dove and Nike have joined forces to launch a revolutionary online coaching program. The new Body Confident Sport initiative seeks to help boost body confidence in young girls (aged 11 to 17) who play sports. New research conducted by both brands reveals that 41 percent of teenage girls drop out of sports, citing body confidence concerns as the biggest cause. After spending two years in the development stage, Body Confident Sport is now an online tool that has been proven to help build body esteem and reduce self-objectification.
Tennis champion Venus Williams has partnered with Dove, and Olympic gold medalist and gymnast Laurie Hernandez has partnered with Nike, to help further promote the program and advocate for young girls in sports. “In sports, girls often face a tremendous amount of pressure—not just around performance and abilities, but also because of unrealistic expectations around their appearances,” shares Williams in a press release. “I am excited to be working with Dove on this initiative to help nurture girls’ self-belief and confidence, foster a positive environment, and shift the conversation from appearance to capability.”
Dyson launches two new styling attachments
The wait is over, Canada! Dyson’s newest styling attachments are now available for us to shop! Whether you’re looking to add a bit of body to your strands or to dry your curls with a diffuser, these new attachments can do it all with no heat damage involved. The Large Round Volumizing Brush takes advantage of long, thin bristles to blast air directly into the scalp while increasing volume and body. And curls will love the Diffuser, which has been designed to mimic natural drying while defining natural kinks and coils and reducing frizz.
The Dyson Airwrap multi-styler is now available to shop with the new attachments included, or you can shop them individually to add to your own collections—as they are compatible with existing machines. With six of the classic Dyson colourways like Nickel/Copper and Fuschia/Nickel to choose from for your new tools, have fun mixing and matching!
Peace Out Skincare drops retinol-powered undereye patches
The more we reach for standard under-eye patches, the more the rest of our skin around the eye area feels neglected. Good thing Peace Out Skin Care’s newly launched Retinol Eye Lift Patches treat more than just the undereye area. In fact, they’ve been designed to stay in place on all eye shapes as they cover both the undereye and the eyelid! These retinol-infused patches are a 360 degree biocellulose targeted treatment that help combat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, powerful peptide complex and triple hyaluronic acid ingredients keep the entire eye area hydrated and plumped up.
Beyoncé’s new fragrance is unveiled
Earlier this summer, Beyoncé announced the launch of a new fragrance—but she didn’t give it all away. We knew that it smelled of clementine, golden honey, rose absolute and golden amber, but we didn’t yet know what it looked like or what it was called. This week on Instagram, Queen Bey put our curiosity to rest as she finally introduced us to her new fragrance, Cé Noir. Both a nod to her own name and her background or the essence of the colour black itself, we suspect from the title.
“I wanted something to be monolithic and I wanted something to have a little bit of intimacy,” she shares as she holds up a luxurious-looking chrome bottle to the camera in her black-and-white filtered Instagram post. “Right here, you can see inside the soul of the perfume,” she explains as she points to the centre of the bottle, where you catch a glimpse of the liquid inside. Thankfully, the perfume is still available for pre-order, and we know it’s one you won’t want to miss. “Cé Noir, say no more,” says Bey as she closes out the video. Period!
