2025’s Stephen King Adaptations Ranked From Worst to Best

Another year has come to an end, and another batch of horror movies has been added to the Letterboxd archive. It seems like just yesterday we were disappointed by The Wolf Man but inspired by Sinners.

Rinse and repeat, as 2026 already looks like a bumper crop of horror movies that will make our “most anticipated” lists (there’s always one on their that disappoints).

Another Evil Dead? Yes, please. A Silent Hill reboot? We’ll take it. Ghostface returning to Woodsboro? What took them so long?

Below is a list of notable 2026 horror movie releases, along with their trailers if available. We can’t wait for a new year and some new blood. Let the countdown begin, and let horror save Hollywood again!

Scream 7: Feb. 27

When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target.

Scream 7

Terrifier 4 (TBD)

Art the Clown returns for another bloody chapter into Damien Leone’s cult classic.

Return to Silent Hill [Jan. 26]

When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of his lost love, James finds a once-recognizable town and encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new, and begins to question his own sanity.

Return to Silent Hill

The Strangers: Chapter 3 [Feb. 27]

In the “Strangers” finale, survivors face new threats from masked strangers. Secrets emerge, jeopardizing their lives as the line between reality and peril blurs in their battle for survival.

The Strangers: Chapter 3

Evil Dead Burn [July 24]

Sleepwalker [Jan. 9]

Haunted by terrifying visions, a young woman’s sleepwalking episodes begin to intensify, accelerating her descent into darkness.

Sleepwalker

Kraken [Feb. 6]

A marine biologist is doing research on a fish farm when she encounters several strange occurrences. Along with the brutal deaths of two teenagers, all signs point to the deep fjord; can there be more to the depths than the eye can see?

Kraken

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come [April, 10]

Moments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come [April, 10]

Reboots & Off Shoots

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple [Jan. 16]

Expanding upon the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland in 28 Years Later but turning that world on its head – Nia DaCosta directs 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. In a continuation of the epic story, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship – with consequences that could change the world as they know it – and Spike’s (Alfie Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) becomes a nightmare he can’t escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival – the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

The Bride! [March 6]

A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!

The Bride!

Onslaught [TBD]

A mother living in a trailer park uses her skills to protect her loved ones from a threat that escaped a secret military base, while mercenaries try to contain it.

Wolf Creek: Legacy [TBD]

The film, which also stars Grace Dove, Logan Miller, and Malcolm McDowell, is written by Andrew Kevin Walker and produced by Roy Lee, Matt Berenson, Andrew Kevin Walker, and Arnon Milchan, with Martin Moszkowicz, Robert Kulzer, Yariv Milchan, Natalie Lehmann, and Kat Landsberg serving as executive producers.
