This is big news for fans of the franchise. It was reported by THR that Jurassic World 4 is in the works at Universal. David Koepp, who is the writer behind Jurassic Park 1 & 2, is writing the script for the upcoming film. He is said to be making good progress on the script and the film is described as a New Jurassic Era with a new storyline. It has been reported that the film’s script has been in works for a while and stated that it is in well liked shape. No director has been attached to the film as of yet, but Frank Marshall, Patrick Crowley, and Steven Spielberg are back as producers. There is no word yet on whether characters from the Jurassic Park or World era would return for this film.
While little is known about the plot other than being a new era for the Jurassic storyline. One route it could take is following the ending of the 3rd film Dominion. It could follow the story of humans and dinosaurs coexisting in the world. There is also a possibility that they go in clean slate and start from scratch with a soft reboot.
The previous film Jurassic World Dominion dominated at the box office making $1.004B on a $265M budget. While the film wasn’t a big hit with critics only receiving a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes, it did way better with the audience scoring a 77%. The film was directed by Colin Trevorrow and starred Chris Pratt, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, Bryce Dallas Howard, and many more.
This is exciting and interesting news for fans of the franchise. While it was known a new film would be made due to the massive financial success of the last film, the film taking on a whole new storyline comes as a shock.
