Police recently arrested George Bone of Las Vegas following a phone call from a concerned relative of his roommate, Beverly Ma. CBS affiliate KLAS reports that the caller told law enforcement she had stopped by to check in on Ma when Bone replied that she was “dead and gone” and had been in the closet for two months.
Police reports reveal that the family member who called 911 had originally dropped by to check on an unusually high air conditioning bill. Bone led the witness to the upper level of the dwelling where she observed a cooler situated near the door of a bedroom closet. Bone reportedly offered to let the witness open the door to see what was inside.
When police personnel asked Bone about the cooler, he said he had placed it there so he would be notified if his roommate rose from the dead, like in the movie The Grudge.

Following Ma’s death, Bone went about his normal activities and even used the victim’s Amazon account to order hundreds of items. Additionally, he texted Ma’s family members from her phone, pretending to be his deceased roommate.
After arriving on the scene, police located Ma’s remains and concluded she “appeared to have been deceased for an extended period of time.”
According to police reports, Bone admitted to law enforcement that he knew Ma was dead and knew how she died. That was enough for them to take the 31-year-old into custody.
Bone was recently evaluated and found competent to stand trial at a later date. He has a prior criminal history, including sex crimes against minors, and is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
