Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson just signed on for Five Nights At Freddy’s. As if we weren’t already over the moon with this upcoming film adaptation of the video game. Now we can add two of our favorites to the cast. Details about their characters are being kept under wraps, but we are adding this to the list of reasons we’re already excited about this film.
Five Nights at Freddy’s follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.

Blumhouse’s Five Nights At Freddy’s was written by Scott Cawthon, Emma Tammi, and Seth Cuddeback. We recently discovered that Emma Tammi, the director of the Canadian horror film The Wind, will also direct the project. The Jim Henson Creature Shop will be creating the animatronics for the movie, so it’s going to look great on top of everything else. We also know that filming starts February 2023 in New Orleans
If you need a reintroduction to Lillard, you might recall him as Stu Macher in Scream. Or you might know him as the adorable stoner Shaggy in the early aughts live-action Scooby-Doo films. He’s also stayed busy doing voice work and TV for numerous non-horror projects that you’ve probably caught him on.

Josh Hutcherson made a name for himself in The Hunger Games films. He also appeared in the dark comedy Tragedy Girls in addition to quite a bit of voice work.
Let me know if this cast announcement has piqued your interest in Five Nights at Freddy’s. I can be found at @misssharai trying to be cool and not tweet, “Liver alone.”
