[Editor’s note: Scream 7 scenes are included in the following video]
We wouldn’t have meta horror if it weren’t for Scream. While it isn’t technically the first meta horror, it is definitely the most widely known. Not only that, but Scream turned the entire genre on its head by pointing out its worst flaws.
Now, 30 years later, Scream is still doing its thing. While the meta commentary isn’t as strong as earlier editions, it does involve a lot of bloodshed. Today, Bloody Disgusting dropped an exclusive trailer for the newest franchise entry, Scream 7.

Synopsis: “When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”
The trailer offers a history lesson in how far the franchise has come and how many people have died in the last 30 years. Honestly, this is an awesome bit of fan service. A franchise this old has definitely had some misses over the years. However, through all the ups and downs, the people behind Scream have never forgotten the most important aspect of horror: the audience.
Scream 7 is scheduled to release in theaters on February 27, 2026.
