The WGA strikes continue, y’all. The writers in Hollywood are standing up for their fair share and who can blame em? In the meantime, a lot of projects are coming to an end or being but on hold. One of the films that has fallen under the axe is none other than Marvel Studio’s Blade reboot. Currently, the film’s pre-production has been shutdown.
This comes as a real bummer, earlier this year the project fell apart when Blade had its would-be director leave the production. Just recently, True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto joined the production as a writer. Sadly, in an act of solidarity, Pizzolatto joined the strike. That put Blade back in a state of limbo.
THR says that once the strike is over, Blade will go back into production as planned. However, anything can change.
Mahershala Ali and Mia Goth are set to star in the reboot. That particular duo have us really excited about the film. I mean for one Ali as the Daywalker is very cool. But, throw in Goth as Lilith, the actual daughter of Dracula and we have a fricking wonderous bit of news. Goth is on a winning streak when it comes to her latest film releases. Suspiria, Infinity Pool, Pearl, X, as well as the upcoming Maxxxine are all huge hits for the genre.
Previously, the most awesome Blade villain was played by Steven Dorff as Decon Frost. And now the amazing Goth will play the role of Lilith. We can’t wait to see what Goth’s Lillith brings to the role.
Yann Demange is set to direct the Blade reboot. If all things work out as they should the film is due to arrive in theaters beginning September 6.
