It’s almost Halloween and this year it feels like everything is back on track. First, we have a sequel to the spooky season’s quintessential movie, Hocus Pocus. Then there’s the annual Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror to look forward to, and an End to that Halloween franchise.
Take a look at what to look forward to this year and let us know what you’re planning to watch.
Hocus Pocus 2 (Disney+)
The Sanderson sisters are back and nobody’s ready. This sequel to the 1993 original has been just a rumor for years. But in 2022 it’s becoming reality for those subscribers of Disney+. The movie premieres on Disney+ on September 30.
It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.
Simpsons Halloween Special XXXIII
This year the people over at The Simpsons are boosting their Halloween special with two episodes! First, we have a tale titled “Not It” which we presume will parody the Stephen King classic. Then there is Death Note which pokes fun at the popular anime series of the same name. Unlike previous seasons this special will be two full episodes instead of the anthology style used in the past. The release date has not been announced, but look for it in October.
Terrifier 2 (Screambox)
This film has had a few production troubles, but it’s finally on its way to theaters on October 6. From what we can gather, the bloody sequel will then head over exclusively to the horror movie streamer Screambox sometime in October.
Halloween Ends (Peacock)
Michael Myers is having a rough time. Can you imagine if you were him and read the title of this movie? It seems so final. But audiences are here for this final chapter in the Blumhouse Halloween saga and lucky for us Peacock subscribers we can see how it all goes down while handing out candy at the same time.
AMC Fear Fest 2022 – Interview With the Vampire series premiere
Every year AMC blesses the airwaves with a great lineup of movies and specials. This year is no exception with the premiere of the series Interview With the Vampire. We are also getting Eli Roth’s History of Horror along with the streamer’s laundry list of scary classics that will stream throughout October.
Disney Channel’s Monstober 2022
Even the House of Mouse is getting in on the Halloween fun. Although the title of their seasonal specials has changed over the years, Monstober has always been a place for scary Halloween fun. This year, along with their catalog of special Halloween content, we are getting a sequel to Under Wraps.
This movie follows a group of teens who have to save their reanimated mummy friends Harold and Rose from danger. This means hiding them in plain sight all the while trying to save Rose from a villainous and vengeful nemesis named Sobek. Under Wraps 2 will premiere on the Disney Channel on September 25.
Syfy 31 Days of Halloween 2022
What better channel to give us spooky content for Halloween than Syfy? this channel has been a cable staple since it began. Remember when it was called Sci-Fi? This year the channel is known for taking Halloween seriously with endless horror movies, originals and series throughout October.
This year is special because we are getting a second season of Chucky from creator Don Mancini. The first season was a fan-fueled success with critics touting its praises too. Expect your favorite killer doll to return when season two premieres on the Syfy Channel on October 5.
TCM Horror Movie Marathons 2022
Turner Classic Movies is the go-to for vintage horror. In October they celebrate all things horror by featuring some of the best in vintage entertainment. From Forbidden Planet to The Haunting, TCM is the next best thing to your Criterion collection.
This year they have horror movies scheduled almost every day of the month, but on October 31 is when they let loose with the Universal monsters including Frankenstein, The Invisible Man and Dracula.
