Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 fans are excited after the show dropped its first official look, hinting at the next chapter in Mizu’s revenge journey. The preview offered early plot details and teased when viewers can expect the series to return.
Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 gets first look teaser
Netflix confirmed on August 22, 2025, that Blue Eye Samurai season 2 is officially in production.
The announcement came with a teaser video featuring co-creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, along with executive producer Jane Wu. In the clip, Michael Green stated, “When we first see Mizu at the top of Season 2, she’s breaking in somewhere to kill someone,” while Noizumi emphasized, “Mizu’s journey remains the same. Revenge is her religion.”
The featurette also showed early footage, with Mizu wielding her sword, indicating the timeline of events. According to the creators, the upcoming season will continue Mizu’s revenge quest as she travels to London, where “at least two of the men she’s out to kill are” located.
Season 2 brings back key characters including the Swordmaker, Taigen, Ringo, and Akemi. Netflix confirmed the series is “now in production” but has not announced a release date, though earlier projections pointed to 2026.
Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 creators reveal key plot details
During the announcement, Amber Noizumi teased that Season 2 will reintroduce characters believed to be dead. “There are also gonna be maybe some people you thought died, who maybe are still alive,” she said in the video, with Michael Green quickly interjecting, “You really gonna give them that?” This indicates the season may revisit or retcon certain events from Season 1.
The creative team said Season 2 will refine its action sequences with a philosophy closer to live-action filmmaking. They are relying on experienced stunt professionals to guide the animated choreography. Netflix described the series as an “award-winning” title, noting that Blue Eye Samurai won the Outstanding Animated Program accolade at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
Season 2 enters production after the critical success of the first season. That season premiered in 2023 and ended with Mizu leaving Japan for London to continue her quest against Skeffington and Routely.
