Call of Duty games usually have betas that let users try out the multiplayer before launch and this year’s entry is no different. And not only did Activision announce those beta dates, but it also revealed when it would be speaking more about its multiplayer and the next version of Warzone, which also pertains to its new mobile iteration.

The game has multiple different beta dates and they are all contingent upon platforms and pre-order status. Those who pre-order on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 will get early access to the beta from September 16 to September 17. The beta then opens up for everyone else on PS4 and PS5 from September 18 to September 20.

The beta will then come to other platforms on the following weekend. Players who pre-order on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or PC will get access to the beta from September 22 to September 23. However, anyone on PlayStation platforms will be able to play on those same days.
And finally, everyone on all the above platforms will be able to join in from September 24 to September 26. Each batch also starts at 10 a.m. PT. The beta will have cross-platform play once it comes to Xbox and PC players on that second weekend starting on September 22. Anyone who plays the beta will also unlock content in the full game and PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold are not required for the beta.

As described in a blog post, the beta will have “a robust multiplayer experience” that goes beyond the six-on-six experience. It will have a bunch of maps, an “equally impressive set” of modes, and progression that will all be shown at Call of Duty: Next. Next will have the aforementioned Warzone and multiplayer reveals (in addition to something that is “[[REDACTED]]”) and is set to kick off on September 15 at an undisclosed time. The team didn’t detail much more than that, but said it will be giving players behind-the-scenes looks at the game over the next month. The first of these “intel drops” will be coming out “soon.”

Activision already released a lengthy demo of the campaign during Summer Game Fest Live. Its multiplayer has been under wraps, but, as reported by Charlie Intel, some NFL players have leaked screen shots out, showing some of its menus and new modes (including its rumored Escape from Tarkov-like DMZ mode). The company also previously said that Warzone 2.0 will come out after Modern Warfare II and have a “new sandbox mode” and “brand-new playspace.” The Warzone mobile game is a little more mysterious since Activision has not been as forthcoming about it at this time. However, it seems as though that’s all about to change.
