Fans of Kitchen Nightmares might remember Mill Street Bistro, which became a part of one of the most popular episodes of the show over the years. But what exactly happened to the restaurant after the cameras stopped rolling? Did it improve on its weaknesses, and what is up with the restaurant now?
Is Kitchen Nightmares’ Mill Street Bistro restaurant still open?
No, Mill Street Bistro is not open anymore. The restaurant reportedly shut down in 2016. Despite Gordon Ramsey‘s team trying to fix the issues that were weighing the establishment down, the problems persisted and eventually led to the end of the restaurant’s run.
Kitchen Nightmares featured Mill Street Bistro in Season 6, Episodes 10 and 11, which aired in 2013. In the episode, Joe Nagy explained that he opened the restaurant after he lost his job in food sales.
In the episode, Joe’s staff explained how his goals were on the verge of being delusional. Moreover, Joe also seemed to be the kind of person who did not take criticism well. The primary overhaul suggested by Ramsey included changing the pretentious menu into something that the locals could relate to better.
Though Joe seemed to comply at first despite showing some resistance, the restaurant reverted to its old ways right after the show. In 2014, Joe Nangy even sued Kitchen Nightmares for damages. Of course, things did not work out for Mill Street Bistro.
As of today, an Irish-influenced restaurant called Liam & Kellynn’s Red Shamrock stands in place of Mill Street Bistro. Red Shamrock seems to be doing well and is well-loved in the community.
What happened to Mill Street Bistro happened to many restaurants featured in Kitchen Nightmares. As of now, many of the restaurants have shut down. However, many have also managed to reinvent themselves and become something much better.
Kitchen Nightmares is available for streaming on Hulu.
