Aerosmith’s North America farewell tour will take an extended pause after Steven Tyler suffered an injury to his vocal cords.
The 75-year-old rocker will sit it out for the next month on “strict doctor’s orders,” he writes in a social post. As a result, six dates are postponed on the band’s Peace Out tour.
“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” the veteran singer explains. “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”
At the time of writing, concerts set for Detroit, Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Raleigh and Cleveland are pushed back.
All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates, reads a statement from the band. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend, and anyone with questions regarding refunds are asked to contact the point of purchase.
Live Nation is producing Aerosmith’s final North American trek, which is scheduled to run through January 2024. “It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives,” read a statement announcing the tour.
“Every night will celebrate the five decades of Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America’s greatest rock band.”
Aerosmith, formed in 1970 by Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
They wrapped their Deuces Are Wild Las Vegas residency in late November and are without the services of founding drummer Joey Kramer, who did not join the band when they returned from a two-year hiatus in March 2022.
