Ariana Grande has reunited with her “lifelong inspiration,” Mariah Carey, for the remix to her recent single, “yes, and?” Stream it below.
The new version of the track offers the two vocalists spaces to flex their whistle tones and impressive ranges. It marks the second official collaboration between Grande and Carey, following 2020’s “Oh Santa!,” which also brought Jennifer Hudson into the mix.
Grande expressed her excitement about the team-up on Instagram when she first announced the remix, saying, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this dream come true and for sprinkling your brilliance and magic on my little song.” Carey replied with similar enthusiasm, calling it a “magical moment” for the two of them.
Meanwhile, Grande is gearing up for her seventh studio album, titled eternal sunshine, and slated for release on March 8th. While “yes, and?” is currently the only peek into the project’s sound, the title gives a major clue for the thematic content: Grande is a superfan of Jim Carrey, and has historically expressed her love for 2004’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which stars Carrey and Kate Winslet as lovers trying to erase their memories of one another.
Grande is also gearing up for the press tour for the film adaptation of Wicked, in which she stars as Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, and Jonathan Bailey. The first-look trailer for the movie aired during the Super Bowl and offered a glimpse of Grande’s take on the beloved Broadway character.
Meanwhile, Carey recently announced a 2024 Las Vegas residency celebrating her 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi, going down this April. Check out the full list of dates, and grab tickets here.
