No nonsense here! Taylor Swift is delighted by Sabrina Carpenter‘s cover of her song “I Knew You Were Trouble.”
“Well she nailed it,” Swift wrote on a screengrab of the Disney actress’ take of the Red for Spotify Singles, which arrived on Wednesday (Oct. 18), on her Instagram Stories. The pop superstar also added two clapping and two hand-heart emojis to the post, in which she also tagged the 24-year-old performer.
“I Knew You Were Trouble,” off 2012 album Red, was a hit for Swift. The single peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2013, and was on the tally for 36 weeks.
Carpenter transformed Swift’s poppy original by stripping it down to an acoustic ballad that featured her breathy vocals. In addition to “I Knew You Were Trouble,” the singer-actress also offered her own “Feather,” off the deluxe version of her album, Emails I Can’t Send Fwd.
The “Vicious” singer will next be joining Swift on her mega Eras World Tour in November, when the trek kicks off its international leg with three shows at Rio de Janeiro’s Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos. After joining Swift for shows in South America that will also stop in Argentina and Brazil, Carpenter will again join the 12-time Grammy winner to open a series of February and March shows in Australia and Singapore.
“That is one of my main inspirations ever since I was a little girl, and now to just be able to watch that show every night is going to be so special,” Carpenter previously told Billboard of touring with Swift. “Watching her in and of itself is how you learn. I admire her work ethic and her talent and she’s just so amazing.”
