Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz went on social media to vent his frustrations after the Italian Grand Prix: strategic blunders and the bad time of an unexpected VSC ruined any chances of a potential top-five finish. The ever-positive Williams driver admitted that the result “hurt,” but he said better days will come through further down the season.

Sainz, instrumental in Williams’ resurrection this year, spoke about early stops and VSC timing as the key problems which ruined his race. “For one reason or another, we don’t seem to actually catch a break on Sundays,” he wrote. With the setback, the Spaniard ended his post with a strong expression of confidence in his team’s progress: “On to Monaco!”
The post elicited a lot of reactions from supporters and critics alike. Many came to the defense of Sainz for displaying perseverance; for instance, one fan, Jen Collins, wrote, “Still proud of you for making it into points!” Another voice, Lee, gave a philosophical comment: “Rome wasn’t built in a day boyo.” The Stick Man also entered the fray of positive comments: “You cannot predict VSC. I thought you and Alex ran a GREAT race.”
Others did not come with an understanding heart. Eli Blades was stark and to the point: ‘Yeah well I had $$ on you for top 6,’ while another user, Charlie, mocked, ‘Once again Albon kicked your ass… Nice try!!!’ This divide buttresses the inflated expectations around Sainz, who has been under strong scrutiny since taking on Williams.
Some rallying supporters wanted to direct their frustration at the team’s strategic calls. ‘You deserve a better team. These clowns can’t get a strategy call right without you holding their hand,’ DMoney said, and he would probably find that sentiment echoed by many. Meanwhile, Marta backed Sainz all-out as her GOAT despite the poor showing.
PulkaSkurken, who has supported Williams for years, then tempered the excitement, warning against hyping too soon. ‘I am super happy that my loyalty to Williams since 1991 is paying off,’ they wrote. ‘We see how fast you & Albon are improving, so it’s easy to get into hype mode too early. Let’s stay cool & level-headed!’
Amongst the versified array of feedback, Sainz’s undying grit was not lost on most. Daisy says, “You fought it hard and best to get back in points after a disaster. YOU REALLY DID YOUR PART THE BEST!!” which reflects the sentiment of many, who feel Sainz is ripe for a breakthrough.
As the F1 circus sets track for Monaco, all eyes are watching to see if Sainz and Williams can translate their immense potential into tangible success. If this is about history, the Spaniard’s never-say-die spirit will be key to turning things around in no time.

For now, Sainz and his allies have one simple message: Keep pushing. The rewards, they say, are just around the corner.
