Going her own way. Christina Hall has been in the spotlight for nearly a decade — and the attention hasn’t always been easy to navigate.
The HGTV star was married to Tarek El Moussa from 2009 to 2018, and the former couple share daughter Taylor and son Brayden. After calling it quits, the coparents continued to film their series Flip or Flop together. In March 2022, Hall and El Moussa announced the end of their show after 10 seasons.
“They mutually agreed they didn’t want to go forth with another season,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly at the time, noting that the timing “couldn’t be better for the both of them” and that the duo “weren’t the happiest on set together.”
The insider continued, “Once the cameras went away you noticed a different vibe. They just went their separate ways, did their own thing, and would speak to the cast and crew more than they would each other.”
Hall called the end of Flip or Flop “bittersweet” as she celebrated the career milestone via Instagram. “I remember filming the pilot and thinking, ‘wouldn’t this be crazy if is this actually made it to network tv?’” she wrote in March 2022. “And here we are, a decade later. … It’s been a wild ride to say the least!!”
Following her split from El Moussa, the real estate mogul remarried twice: first to Ant Anstead in 2018 and to Joshua Hall in 2022. Christina split from the British TV star, with whom she welcomed son Hudson in 2019, after less than two years of marriage.
“Christina and Ant have been very private about this and friends are shocked to hear the news because they seemed happy together publicly and while in front of others,” a source told Us in September 2020.
The former couple finalized their divorce in July 2021, but their relationship took a sharp turn the following year when Anstead filed for full custody of Hudson. The Celebrity IOU: Joyride star is also the father of Amelie and Archie with ex-wife Louise Anstead.
“What Ant is doing deeply saddens me,” Christina told Us in an April 2022 statement as the custody disagreement made headlines. “If this was really about Hudson, as he says, this should have been handled privately with a private judge or mediation, as myself and my attorney have suggested. I have had my share of ups and downs, but I am a good mom and I love my children with all my heart and I will always protect them.”

The real estate pro was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, which can impact one’s ability to get pregnant. She and El Moussa welcomed daughter Taylor in 2010, turning to IVF when attempting to conceive a second child amid El Moussa’s cancer battle. She was put on bed rest after two failed rounds before son Brayden was born in 2015.
The Flip or Flop alums called it quits in December 2016 after seven years of marriage — and an explosive fight at their home. Their divorce was finalized in 2018, and the duo proceeded to coparent amicably. “We all just are in it for the kids and whatever’s best for them, so that’s just how we make it work,” Christina told Us exclusively in April 2020.
Several years after scoring her first HGTV gig with El Moussa, Christina was given her own show, Christina on the Coast, in which she helps turn outdated homes into high-end properties. “Christina’s design style is very popular, so it’s a natural progression for us to expand her visibility with a new series,” then-president of HGTV and Food Network Allison Page said in a 2018 statement. The series debuted one year later.
Christina and Ant welcomed son Hudson in September 2019, less than one year after they got married. The mother of three was put on bed rest three weeks after her C-section delivery. “I’m a moron,” she wrote via Instagram at the time, describing how she incurred a postpartum injury while throwing her daughter a birthday party. “I definitely hurt myself. … I wasn’t taking care of myself. Back to bed rest and baby cuddles.”
The design guru exclusively told Us in April 2020 that she felt “more calm” in her marriage to the Wheeler Dealers host. “It takes a lot to bother me nowadays,” she explained. “I don’t really sweat the small stuff at all and I just feel like I’m more patient.”
“Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate,” Christina wrote via Instagram in September 2020, announcing her split from her second husband. Less than one year later, Us confirmed in June 2021 that the pair finalized their divorce. At the time, the twosome sought joint legal and physical custody of son Hudson, but Ant filed for full custody in April 2022.
Following her split from the U.K. native, the California native opened up about the judgment she felt as a single parent. “When I get told ‘you must be an absent mother because you are not with your kids’ – smh wake up people. I hardly post anymore,” she wrote via Instagram in November 2020. “And I def do not want to post my kids every freaking day to make it a contest of who’s a better parent f that. This doesn’t mean I’m not with my kids – it means the opposite – I am with them- I’m present. So stop parent shaming people, stop choosing sides when there is no side to choose.”
Before Flip or Flop came to an end in early 2022, reports surfaced of an on-set blowup between Christina and El Moussa, during which he allegedly called his ex a “washed-up loser.” He addressed the situation in September 2021, telling E!’s Daily Pop, “As you can imagine, it can be stressful working with an ex and we did have an incident where some choice words were said on both sides and I’m sure we both wish the whole thing never happened. … The whole thing just sucked for everyone involved.”
Christina went public with Joshua in July 2021, revealing via Instagram at the time that they had already been together for months. “I met Josh when I wasn’t in a state of fear or fight-or-flight … I had taken time off social, hired a spiritual coach and smoked a Bufo toad,” she wrote, noting that the psychedelic “basically reset my brain and kicked out years of anxiety in 15 mins.” She announced their engagement in September 2021.
Us confirmed in April 2022 that Christina and Joshua were married. He later defended his wife in a strongly-worded social media post, writing, “This woman I get to call mine is nothing short of incredible. No one or nothing will keep her from achieving happiness/success. She doesn’t need anyone’s validation and certainly doesn’t let anyone’s disapproval affect what she does with HER life.”
Christina and Tarek announced in March 2022 that their series would end after season 10, and the final episode aired that same month. However, the duo reunited for an hour-long special later that year titled Flip or Flop: The Final Flip.
“I think it filled its purpose. I can’t look back like that and [have regrets],” she told Entertainment Tonight before the “official, real finale” aired in December 2022. “It doesn’t do anyone any good. I just learned a lot along the way and won’t make the same mistakes twice. I’m just grateful for where I am right now with my family and my career.”
She added: “I learned a lot along the way about business, about design, about television. I really kind of grew up with that show. It was a great experience.”
