It’s undeniable that Margaret Qualley has already charted a really interesting career for herself when it comes to film roles.
You could argue that her left-of-center choices have contributed greatly to her success — and that certainly includes her turn in The Substance, one of the year’s most talked-about movies that seems primed to make a splash in awards season.
So it was a bit surprising when, in a recent interview with Vogue Australia, Margaret signaled a desire to take a break from making such choices in her career.
“I think I’ve been in a lot of obscure, arty movies,” she said. “And they’re not actually the movies I like to watch. And I think I wanna start being in stuff that I would wanna watch.”
“I wanna do movies where I keep my clothes on and I don’t die in the end. The bar is low. I’m so thirsty for a rom-com. I’m manifesting.”
Margaret did also specify that she’s “grateful” for her overall career trajectory thus far. “It’s exciting when something becomes a part of the culture,” she said.
“I think that’s what most artists are setting out to do: put enough of themselves into something that it feels somewhat universal.”
I mean, I suppose there’s nothing wrong with wanting to switch things up a bit. What do you think about Margaret’s comments? Spill your guts in the comments.
