Prince Harry really HAS watched The Crown!
Matt Smith, who played Prince Philip in the early days of the acclaimed Netflix series, confirmed he’s chatted with the Duke of Sussex about the show! In an interview with BBC News on Sunday, the actor recalled running into Meghan Markle‘s husband at a polo match and the 39-year-old giving him a nickname based on his on-screen role. He dished:
“He was like ‘alright grandad? I was like ‘alright mate?’”
LOLz!
Such a simple nod to the show! But proves Harry was staying up to date about the media’s perception of his family!

The 41-year-old House of the Dragon star previously told Today he knew the Spare author had seen some of the seasons but couldn’t confirm whether or not he was still watching as of 2022. Now we know how he knew! He also said he heard Queen Elizabeth II would watch the show every Sunday. Cute!
While some in the The Firm have kept their distance, the Archewell founder has also been bold enough to admit he’s tuned into the drama, telling Stephen Colbert he likes to fact-check the show. Hah! That said, it’s believed Harry stopped watching once his mother Princess Diana‘s death became a main plot point. Understandable!
