Country kingpin Reba McEntire and action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger met this week in New York City to prove once and for all that `derived-from` stardom transcends genres. An impromptu social media massacre ensued later when the two shared some hilarious banter after a hit-and-run encounter during the NBC Upfronts.

McEntire started the fun on social media with the classic joke setup, “A redhead and a robot walk into a bar…,” with a glamorous photo of herself and the Terminator star. The country queen got to cut loose as she described on her Facebook page, “Loved getting to meet Arnold Schwarzenegger while I was in NYC for the NBC Upfronts this week. Thanks for visiting with us!”
The internet couldn’t get enough of the antics of this unexpected celebrity pairing. In a very brilliant fashion, BhloeHardashian mixed references from both their catchphrases, saying, “Arnold said ‘Get to the… Single mom who works two jobs.’” A nice mash-up of Schwarzy’s “I’ll be back” with McEntire’s lyrics as dramatis personae on how well the persona of these two icon matches.
Still, some comments were far from enthusiastic about the get-together. Others could not hold back to lay reminder of Schwarzenegger’s political history with somebody asking, “Why would you hang out with that commie?” One other went for his personal life, calling him “a dirty cheater.”
The towering McEntire towering against the famously shorter Schwarzenegger did not go unnoticed. Wayne U gave the world a nostalgic flashback: “Reminded me of how short Arnold is. I worked out with him back in the 70’s. I’m 6’5″.” Others embraced this silliness and brainstormed even sillier crossover ideas; Kevin Gunn stated, “I want to see Tremors’ Heather Gummer take on the Terminator. Now that would be a crossover hit!”
Some fans could already anticipate a collaboration in the making. Farley Hafar proposed, “You should have Arnold Schwarzenegger on Happy’s Place to challenge Emmett in the kitchen!” while Dennis O’Connell quipped, “Imagine if he was the unknown sibling for Happy’s Place.” The thought of the iconic action star taking part in McEntire’s show clearly lit some fires.
Between all the jokes and pop-culture references, some took a moment to comment on Schwarzenegger’s reputation for being quite approachable. The Jensley Report wrote: “Arnold is one of those actors you can just walk up to, hold your hand out to shake, and say Hello Governor; And he will stop to acknowledge you.”
That these two entertainment giants- one of whom has provided us yelling country ballads on heartbreak, and the other of whom the odious agglomerate into exploding action thrillers- is proof that star quality transcends genres. Whether joking each other out, imagining awkward collaborations, or appreciating two legends in one frame, the internet surely had plenty to say about the bizarre and charming celeb meet-up.

This was the sort of romance mixed in with discussions on political differences and past controversies, while for the most part, in pure glorification of entertainment value, it looked at that McEntire and Schwarzenegger diptych. For which this little joint joking social media act has proven that both stars in their heyday still know how to create some real buzz that most of us want to partake in.
