Teddi Mellencamp was spotted out and about wearing her wedding ring – just a few hours after her shocking divorce announcement.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was captured in photos published by the Daily Mail on Sunday, November 3, walking around Los Angeles the previous afternoon and taking a phone call. She was dressed casually in a sweatshirt bearing the logo of her podcast, “Two T’s in a Pod,” which she hosts alongside Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge. Her left hand appears to sport wedding jewelry.
Mellencamp, 43, stunned her fans earlier on Saturday, November 2, when she posted on Instagram that she was filing for divorce from her longtime husband, Edwin Arroyave.
“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” she wrote in a photo. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.”
She added that she did not want to make a statement “but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”
Mellencamp, whose father is musician John Mellencamp, and Arroyave married in 2011, and share three children together.
One week before Mellencamp’s annoucement, Arroyave had posted a sweet message to her on his own Instagram account. The message was accompanied with a carousel of photos of them together at the Cure Melanoma Gala in New York City.
Mellencamp has been open about her journey, struggles and surgery with melanoma – having had her 16th surgery in June.
“I always say life and pain are inseparable,” he wrote. “To see @teddimellencamp embrace her pain and use it for the greater good again last night as she emceed the @curemelanoma gala, was a beautiful reminder of what she is capable of.”
He continued writing that “her story has already saved lives. And I couldn’t be prouder that she will continue to save more. Love you, Teds.”
Mellancamp was a cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on seasons 8, 9 and 10. She said that at that point in their lives, their relationship was on the rocks.
She opened up about these moments in a March 2023 episode of her podcast.
“When we first started, I remember my first day honestly it was like ‘F—, at what point do I tell everybody that I’m getting a divorce? Like when do I do this?,” she said. “We are at our worst absolute phase, because truthfully, for us, it was really about a power struggle.”
She continued, “We were always kind of equals when we were together. I rode horses, I was competitive and I was all these things. Then I couldn’t get pregnant naturally, I did all these IVFs. Then, all of a sudden, he was in charge of our finances, and I had never been that. I never not had my own money, I had been working since I was 17. Then I just started hating him.”
