Rachel Lindsay is reflecting on her journey with Bryan Abasolo—including their divorce and why she wishes they got a prenuptial agreement before they got married.
“A lot of people are like, ‘You’re a lawyer, do you have a prenup?'” The Bachelorette alum said on the June 6 episode of fellow Bachelor star Natasha Parker’s podcast Hidden Gems. “I don’t.”
As for why Rachel and Bryan didn’t get one before saying “I do” in 2019?
“The reason I didn’t is because the place that I’m in now—financially, however you want to define it—is totally different than when I got married,” she explained. “We were more level, and I wasn’t in California. If I got married in California—I know California is wild. It’s not in my favor all the time. It was just a different time. So I wasn’t leading with that.”
And while the season 13 star noted she was open to a prenup at the time, she indicated they didn’t see eye to eye on the subject.
“We weren’t on the same page with prenups,” she continued. “So I just didn’t want it to be a bigger issue, so we didn’t have one. And you know, hindsight’s 20/20. I would have done it. I mean, I always wanted to do it but, again, we weren’t on the same page when it came to that.”
