Seth Binzer, the lead singer of the band Crazy Town, has died. The 49-year-old musician was found dead in his home in Los Angeles on Monday. Here is everything that has been revealed about Binzer’s death so far.
Shifty Shellshock Found Dead In His L.A. Home
The star was known as the lead singer and co-founder of the rap rock band Crazy Town. His fans knew him by his stage name “Shifty Shellshock.” According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, he passed away in his home on Monday. There is an ongoing investigation to determine his cause of death.
Shifty Shellshock worked with Bret “Epic” Mazur to form the band Crazy Town. The pair first met in 1992 and worked under the name “Brimstone Sluggers” until they decided to form a new band. Together, the two vocalists hired Rust Epique, James Bradley Jr., Adam Goldstein, Doug Miller, and Antonio Lorenzo Valli to make up Crazy Town in 1999.
The next year, Crazy Town released “Butterfly,” its first hit single. It climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 music chart and became one of the anthems of the early 2000s. Seth Binzer and the rest of the crew saw great success with their debut album as well. It was called “The Gift Of Game” and it sold more than 1.5 million copies.
Unfortunately, the group’s second album “Darkhouse” flopped. Audiences didn’t seem to enjoy it as much as the first, and the band separated shortly after its release. Several years later, they reunited to release a third studio album called “The Brimstone Sluggers,” but it still was not as successful as their first.
Seth Binzer Was No Stranger To Trouble Throughout His Life
Throughout his life, Seth Binzer had a number of run-ins with law enforcement. In 2011, he was placed under arrest for having outstanding warrants. Police responded to a domestic disturbance call during a fight Binzer had with his girlfriend at the time and arrested him after discovering the warrants.
One year ago, he was pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence in South Carolina. Later in 2023, a video surfaced of Binzer getting into a fistfight with fellow bandmate Bobby Reeves. Reeves replaced Bret Mazur in Crazy Town. The pair got into it following a show in Myrtle Beach.
Footage of the brawl showed Seth Binzer beating Bobby Reeves up, but no arrest was made as a result of the scuffle. Reeves said there was no love lost between the two of them, stating that he loved Shifty despite their fight.
In the past, Seth Binzer had opened up about his struggles with addiction and the mistakes he’s made. However, it has not yet been determined if these struggles are what led to Binzer’s untimely death.
