Doubling Down With the Derricos stars Karen Derrico and Deon got divorced and the custody of their 14 kids was partly revealed. Of course, many TLC fans feel shattered by the shocking news. However, the current season of the TLC show did hint at problems within their marriage. Keep reading to find out more.
Karen Derrico Will Pay Medical Insurance
Doubling Down With the Derricos fans heard via TMZ that Karen and Deon finalized their split in two days. So possibly, they worked out all the arrangements well in advance. Some people picked up the current season’s vibe and hoped it was all just drama for TLC. Unfortunately, it was real and now 14 kids have divorced parents.
Karen Derrico will receive $1,166 per month from Deon. This means she won’t have much money for each child: Darian, Derrick, Denver, Dallas, Deonee, Daician, Daiten, Deniko, Dariz, Diez, Dior, Dawsyn, De’Aren, and Dyver. While it doesn’t seem like a lot, considering that she has to pay the medical insurance, the “split legal and physical” custody might work out for her.
Certain Details About Divorce Agreement Still Unknown
TLC fans speculate about the divorce, but without seeing the finer points, fans do not know how long the children will visit each parent. Who pays for food and clothing while they are with Deon? There are a lot of variables that most likely went into their divorce settlement.
The only thing that fans can hope for is that Karen Derrico and her husband put the kids’ interests first. If you watched the current season, you would have seen that Karen collapsed while skiing. Grandma, Marian “GG” Derrico said:
First thing I started thinking about [were] the kids, because they don’t need to be without their monther. Not even for a day!
Deon Derrico and Karen have split, but according to People, they are united about their children. Their statement said:
Together, we remain unified in the parenting of our 14 beautiful children – their well-being is our priority. We thank everyone for their understanding and support as we move forward for the good of our family
Will The TLC Show Go On?
Doubling Down With The Derricos might not be renewed due to poor ratings, but TLC hasn’t confirmed anything yet. Ending the show could cause some financial strain. However, it’s unlikely that the kids’ dad will let his children grow up with too much hardship. Evan Karen agreed that he wouldn’t hurt the kids. This comment came to light when they fought about mold in the new house.
