While facing various legal troubles, Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team have come up with a $50 million bail package plan as he awaits trial. The bail package comes with a list of restrictions that could be imposed upon the mogul. This is also only the latest in Combs’ various appeals for bail since his arrest.
The New Bail Package Offers A List Of Restrictions On Diddy
This past Friday, Diddy had reportedly filed a new request to prepare for his upcoming trial outside of Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. The mogul has been at the center since his arrest back in September.
Reportedly, the move was requested in part due to alleged new evidence and circumstances. This filing actually marks the mogul’s fourth request, as he had previously been denied bail a few times already.
As noted by USA Today, with the new filing, Diddy’s legal team has proposed a “far more robust” package. Details include around-the-clock security monitoring and restrictions on his contacts, outside of his legal team.
Combs will also have limits on internet and phone access and will be subject to a pre-approved visitor list. Passports belonging to the mogul and his family will also be surrendered.
Combs’ Legal Team Also Criticized The Metropolitan Detention Center’s Conditions
This bed also claims Combs will willingly participate in a “full home detention.” This could be at either his $48 million Miami home or at a location in New York. During this time, Combs would also be subject to substance testing.
As mentioned, this is the fourth bail package that Diddy’s legal team has developed. Two earlier attempts at bail packages, however, were ultimately rejected out of concern it could interfere with witnesses.
The mogul’s legal team had also argued against the conditions at the Center he’s been held at since his arrest. One such claim includes Combs not having access to a laptop they provided to help prepare for his case. It’s also been claimed that lockdowns and sweeps are so frequent at the center that it limits the contact Combs has with his legal team.
Combs’ legal team made similar claims back in September, as previously reported. At the time, The Daily Beast reported that his lawyers alleged that “several courts in this District have recognized that the conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center are not fit for pre-trial detention.”
As noted by Us Weekly, Diddy’s lawyers have claimed new evidence “makes clear that the government’s case is thin” against their client. According to these claims, the evidence even refutes that that a video of Diddy allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend Cassie occurred during a “Freak Off.”
