Family Feud host Steve Harvey has recently faced criticism for showing off his wealth. This came after he posted a photo of him and his wife, Marjorie, in a scene where many fans felt he was flaunting what he had while millions of Americans struggled to pay their bills. However, Steve wasn’t having any of it. He commented back and talked about “getting rich,”
Here is what Steve Harvey had to say about people claiming he is flaunting his wealth and what advice he had for others.
Family Feud‘s Steve Harvey Blasted For Flaunting Wealth
Steve Harvey recently posted a photo of him and his wife, Marjorie. The two kissed each other in front of their private jet. This caused many fans to rip into Steve for flaunting his wealth, calling him out of touch with the rest of the world.

Many people commented that he was showing off his wealth, only seeing the jet as the main part of the photo. Others said they saw a couple who loved each other kissing. It said a lot about the individual commenters to see what different people saw in the photos. Some saw love, and others saw envy.
The comments were polarizing:
- One person clearly was envious of Steve’s wealth and wrote, “Social media life is different from reality, hey don’t throw stones at me.”
- However, a second person wrote, “Beautiful couple, may God keeps blessing the both of you!”
This then led to Steve Harvey stepping in and making his own pointed comments on wealth. He did this by posting a series of Facebook Reels to his page that showed him talking to the audience about his success and how he reached the point he is at now.
Steve Harvey Tells Family Feud Fans How He Got Rich
The Facebook Reels had Steve Harvey speaking directly to the Family Feud audience about his own wealth. This was from five years ago, but with the recent complaints about the photo with his wife, he might have felt it was time to pull it back out again.
“See, people always wanna pay off their debt, but rich people owe money,” Steve said. “The key to getting rich is OPM: other people’s money.” Steve then gave some interesting advice. He mentions that there are people who are always paying off their debts.
He said this was a bad idea. Harvey said it is hard to get a “chunk” of money, and when people get a large amount, they shouldn’t use it to pay off their debts. He argued that this would just incur more debt. Steve said there is some debt people should pay off (high-interest credit card debt).
However, he said never to use it to pay off a home mortgage since a home is too valuable to pay off since you can always borrow from a home’s equity. While it might be hard to listen to the Family Feud host about debt, he is worth $200 million. He also wasn’t born wealthy and, at one time, lived in his car and only had $35 to his name.
