Jon Gosselin has come a long way since his days filming Jon and Kate Plus 8 on TLC. The hit reality TV show followed Jon and his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, as they raised their children together. It premiered in 2007 and garnered loads of attention for shedding light on their interesting family dynamic.
Jon and Kate’s marriage was not built to last, though. They ultimately filed for divorce in 2009 after being married for a decade. Now, it seems Jon is ready to move on with his life. These are the details of his upcoming proposal plans with his girlfriend, Stephanie Lebo.
When Is Jon Gosselin Proposing To Stephanie Lebo?
When Jon gets the opportunity to talk about his girlfriend, Stephanie, he only ever has positive things to say. The 47-year-old reality TV star has been dating his 37-year-old girlfriend. Based on how open he has been about their love story, he is beyond stoked to take the natural next step. According to The Sun, Jon said:
”I’m definitely popping the question; she has no clue. I have it all formulated in my mind. It’s funny because we’re both tricksters and like to play tricks on each other, so she’ll know when it happens… I’m very detail-oriented and specific about what I want, and what [ring] she wants, obviously, and it took me a while. I didn’t know there were so many options, and there are… because the last time I got engaged, I was like 20 years old.”
Why Did Jon Gosselin And Kate Gosselin Get Divorced?
It’s clear that Jon is happily in love with Stephanie at this juncture, but why did his last marriage crumble? Rumors of infidelity were at an all-time high between Jon and Kate when they first broke up. According to Jon, none of those stories were actually legitimate. He appeared on an episode of Couples Therapy to rehash the details. While he was on camera, he said:
”The biggest misconception is the reason for the divorce is that I cheated on my wife, but I didn’t. I always felt like I did Kate’s task list. ‘Here’s the Post-it note. This is what you have to do. This is how you’re a good husband. This is how you’re going to behave.’ [I thought], ‘OK … I’m going to complete these tasks, and she’ll love me because I do these things.’”
Jon went on to describe the failed marriage as “non-affectionate,” and similar to a “business transaction.” He also noted that he knew their marriage was finished on January 17, 2009. From Jon’s perspective, that was the definitive date when their marriage was over and beyond repair. They spent a couple nights apart and they only seemed to be emotionally hurting each other at that point.
