“He’s definitely turned my summer upside-down.” Music Box Films has revealed the official trailer for an indie romantic musical titled Glitter & Doom, from filmmaker Tom Gustafson. After first premiering last year, this is set to opn in limited US theaters in March next month. In a fantastical romance set to the hits of the band Indigo Girls, two young aspiring performers fall in love at first sight. They try to figure out how to make their love last as they head down different paths. Punctuated by a star-studded cast, Glitter & Doom is an electric queer musical about the power of love. After a circus performance and talented musician fall in love, they struggle to make sense of their whirlwind summer romance while staying true to themselves and pursuing their dreams. With a star-studded supporting cast (including Lea DeLaria, Tig Notaro, Drag Race alum Peppermint, Ming-Na Wen, Missi Pyle, and of course the Indigo Girls themselves, Amy Ray & Emily Saliers), Glitter & Doom is a creatively ambitious, visually stunning queer musical about the power of love – and the “power of two.” Starring Alex Diaz as Glitter and Alan Cammish as Doom. In a fantastical summer romance set to the iconic hits of the Grammy Award-winning, trailblazing Indigo Girls, Glitter & Doom follows the love-at-first-sight connection between carefree circus performer Glitter (Filipino star Alex Diaz) and struggling musician Doom (UK newcomer Alan Cammish). An undeniable spark throws them into a summer of camping trips, late-night conversations, and innovative song-and-dance numbers – until the real world comes calling. Their relationship is put to the test as Doom confronts the realities of finding success in the music industry and Glitter has an opportunity to run away to Paris as a circus performer. They try to make sense of their whirlwind romance… Glitter & Doom is directed by indie producer / filmmaker Tom Gustafson, director of the films Were the World Mine, Mariachi Gringo, and Hello Again previously, plus a few short films. The screenplay is written by Cory Krueckeberg. Produced by Felicitas Arce, Hunter Arnold, Alejandra Cárdenas, Ale García, Tom Gustafson, Cory Krueckeberg, and Antonio Urdapilleta. This initially premiered in 2023 playing at a few small film festivals. Music Box Films will release Glitter & Doom in select US theaters starting March 8th, 2024 coming soon. Who’s into this?
