Australian Artist Biopic Doc ‘Bromley: Light After Dark’ Official Trailer

“Standing still is not an option.” Madman Films has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film from Australia titled Bromley: Light After Dark, made by filmmaker Sean McDonald. This is getting released in Australia in November this year, though there’s no international dates set – worth a look anyway. David Bromley found that art appeased the voices in his head and helped him find beauty in the world. So he made the life-changing decision to commit his whole being to something meaningful. Bromley: Light After Dark is a story of art, true love, triumph over darkness. David was a lost soul, until he found art. Ultimately, the doc is a love story for the ages and a rousing exploration of life and creativity. Art saved his life. Art, and his wife Yuge. But that’s just the beginning of this story… This looks like an uplifting and moving film about how art can be a form of therapy and expression for some. Even if you don’t like his art, it’s still a cool story.

Light After Dark takes us into the world of this prominent Australian artist. With intimate access, we peel away the layers of anxiety, phobias and suicide survival, whilst embracing the humour, energy, and love that is ever-present in the Bromley world. David’s journey is not complete without his wife Yuge and it’s through this powerful partnership that we witness firsthand the fragility of David’s world and state of mind. As the Bromleys live their authentic lives, the film features interviews with friends, critics and musicians to add perspectives and insight on the creative process, mental health, and commercialisation of art. Bromley: Light After Dark is directed by Australian filmmaker Sean McDonald, making his feature directorial debut after working as a cinematographer on other doc films. Produced by Clare Plueckhahn and Cathy Rodda. This recently premiered at CinefestOz 2023. Madman Films will debut Bromley: Light After Dark in Australian cinemas on November 16th, 2023.
