“One of the most audacious intelligence operations in history.” Greenwich Entertainment has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film titled Neither Confirm Nor Deny, about a secret mission during the Cold War. It will be available to watch at home coming up in late September. American spies locate a sunken Soviet submarine before the Russians can find it, but get caught in a game of cat and mouse with the press when a journalist discovers their secret. During the Cold War, the CIA secretly raised a sunken Soviet nuclear submarine from the depths of the Pacific Ocean. The six-year operation included an intricate cover story by billionaire Howard Hughes. Drawing on declassified documents and never-before-seen interviews, Philip Carter’s doc Neither Confirm Nor Deny tells one of the highest-stakes, yet least known stories of the Cold War. This looks wildly fascinating, especially with these people telling stories of what really happened.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Philip Carter’s doc Neither Confirm Nor Deny, from YouTube:
“A fascinating look at a now-declassified chapter of the Watergate era.” At the height of the Cold War, the CIA is tasked with an audacious covert mission: recovering a sunken Soviet nuclear submarine from the bottom of the ocean. The mission soon hangs in the balance as the agency and its activities are caught in a power play between the press and the White House itself. With firsthand accounts from many principal players, this timely deep dive into America’s clandestine underbelly reveals a long history of questionable tactics. Neither Confirm Nor Deny is directed by newcomer filmmaker Philip Carter, making his feature directorial debut with this. Produced by Sheryl Crown, Maggie Monteith, Christopher Simon, and Kevin J. Walsh. This initially premiered at the 2022 DOC NYC Film Festival last year. Greenwich Ent. will release Neither Confirm Nor Deny direct-to-VOD / digital in the US starting on September 22nd, 2023 this fall.
