“Tell no one of our arrangement…” Hulu has revealed a first look teaser trailer for a film titled The Man in My Basement, an intriguing new horror creation from filmmaker Nadia Latif. Set for a streaming debut later in 2025 – another feature debut horror creation for Hulu. Charles Blakey, an African American man living in Sag Harbor, is stuck in a rut, out of luck, and about to lose his ancestral home… when a peculiar white businessman with a European accent offers to rent his basement for the summer. He agrees to let this mysterious stranger into his basement, unaware he may be letting in a force much darker than he imagined. Uh oh. Starring Corey Hawkins and Willem Dafoe, with Anna Diop & Tamara Lawrance. It’s based on the book of the same name first published in 2004. The film was originally set to star Jonathan Majors, who was replaced after his assault conviction. Stay tuned for more with the full trailer later on this summer.

Once Charles accepts, he finds himself led down a terrifying path that confronts his family’s ghosts & locks the men in a terrifying puzzle, at the heart of it race, the source of their traumas and the root of all evil. The Man in My Basement is directed by filmmaker Nadia Latif, making her feature directorial debut after working on the “Foresight” series. The screenplay is written by Walter Mosley & Nadia Latif; based on Walter Mosley’s book of the same name. Produced by Diane Houslin and John Giwa-Amu. Hulu will release Latif’s The Man in My Basement film streaming on Hulu starting in the fall later in 2025. First impression?
