Full Trailer for Gross Demonic Horror ‘When Evil Lurks’ from Argentina

“I’ve seen it with my own eyes! I was with it!” IFC Films has debuted the main official trailer for a super scary indie horror film titled When Evil Lurks, which just premiered at TIFF recently. After playing there, it’s heading to Fantastic Fest and Sitges next this fall – for all horror fans everywhere. A wildly original take on the possession film, When Evil Lurks is a shocking supernatural thriller from Argentine master of horror, writer-director Demián Rugna (Terrified). In a remote village, two brothers find a demon-infected man just about to give birth to evil itself. They decide to get rid him but merely succeed in helping him to deliver the inferno. The indie horror film stars Ezequiel Rodríguez, Eduardo Salomón, and Silvia Sabater. TIFF adds that it has “a brutality that recalls the gory extremities of Lucio Fulci’s City of the Living Dead and the hopeless horror of Narciso Ibáñez Serrador’s Who Can Kill a Child?” This trailer is disgusting as all hell. So many gross, weird, WTF shot in this. Horror fans definitely don’t want to miss it! Delivery date: in October.

When brothers Pedro (Ezequiel Rodríguez) & Jimmy (Demián Salomón) discover a demonic infection has been festering in a nearby farmhouse — its very proximity poisoning the local livestock — they attempt to evict the victim from their land. Failing to adhere to the proper rites of exorcism, their reckless actions inadvertently trigger an epidemic of possessions across their rural community. Now they must outrun an encroaching evil as it corrupts and mutilates everyone it is exposed to, and enlist the aid of a wizened “cleaner,” who holds the only tools that can stop this supernatural plague. When Evil Lurks, also known as Cuando Acecha la Maldad in Spanish, is written and directed by Argentinian genre filmmaker Demián Rugna, director of the movies The Last Gateway, You Don’t Know Who You’re Talking To, and Terrified previously, plus a segment in Satanic Hispanics out this year. This is premiering at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival this month – playing in Midnight Madness. IFC Films will debut Rugna’s When Evil Lurks in select US theaters on October 6th, 2023, then streaming on Shudder starting October 20th. Want to watch?
