“Ladies – we have been ordered to provide hope! Their soldiers have not heard from their loved ones…” Netflix debuted the full official trailer for The Six Triple Eight, made by Tyler Perry. Set for release in December including in theaters first. The Six Triple Eight is inspired by the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas during World War II. 855 women joined up to fix the 3-year backlog of undelivered mail. Faced with discrimination and devastation of war, they managed to sort more than 17M pieces of mail ahead of time. Written & directed by Perry, this stars Kerry Washington as Major Charity Adams, the lead officer of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. It’s also with Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Jeanté Godlock, Moriah Brown, Pepi Sonuga, along with Susan Sarandon, Dean Norris, plus Sam Waterston, and Oprah Winfrey. Based on the article by Kevin M. Hymel, the film also features an original song “The Journey” by Diane Warren, performed by H.E.R. with choreography by Debbie Allen. The more they show from this, the better looks – this trailer got me all jazzed up! A righteous story about Black women and their magnificence.

Madea Halloween, Acrimony, Nobody’s Fool, A Fall from Grace, A Jazzman’s Blues, Mea Culpa, and Divorce in the Black most recently. The screenplay is also written by Tyler Perry, based on the article “Fighting A Two-Front War” by Kevin M. Hymel published in WWII History Magazine by Sovereign Media.
