“People here fight the elements… But when its touched you, when you let it be – you’ll never be the same again.” Black Bear has revealed an official UK trailer for an indie film called The Salt Path, adapted from the memoir of the same name. Set for release in UK cinemas in early 2025 – though no details yet on the US release. Based on Raynor Winn’s bestselling book of the same name, The Salt Path tells the emotional and life-affirming story of a couple whose connection with the natural world helps them overcome challenges and ultimately reconnect with one another. After losing everything, Moth Winn and Raynor Winn decide to trek along all 630 miles of the South West Coast Path – the longest uninterrupted path in England, from Minehead to Poole around the coast of Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset. This is their story. Starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs. We’ve seen plenty of these “go out in nature to heal” stories before, but this looks extra beautiful following them around so many wonderful places in the UK on this hike. Have a look.
Here’s the first official UK trailer for Marianne Elliott’s film The Salt Path, direct from YouTube:
A married couple (Gillian Anderson & Jason Isaacs) receive a bad health diagnosis and are left homeless after legal trouble, so they embark upon the 630-mile (1010 km) South West Coast Path – the longest uninterrupted path in England, from Minehead to Poole around the coast of Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset. The Salt Path is directed by British theater director Marianne Elliott, making her first feature film after a few filmed productions of theater shows including War Horse (2014), Angels in America (2017), and Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads previously, along with lots of theater work. The screenplay is written by Rebecca Lenkiewicz; it’s adapted from Raynor Winn’s memoir “A Salt Path.” Produced by Peter Hampden, Kristin Irving, Elizabeth Karlsen, Beatriz Levin, Lloyd Levin, Norman Merry, Thorsten Schumacher, and Stephen Woolley. Black Bear UK will debut The Salt Path in UK cinemas early 2025. No US release date is set yet.
