“When it’s the end of the world, a new hero must rise.” Screambox & Fathom have revealed the first official trailer for a horror comedy creation called Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls, marking the feature directorial debut of Andrew Bowser. Some may know about “Onyx the Fortuitous” – he’s already a viral sensation online, a mad creation of comedian / actor / filmmaker Andrew. This feature film version of Onyx initially premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival this year in the Midnight section. “Onyx the Fortuitous” is struggling to find any purpose with his soul-devouring side gig when he receives a coveted invitation to the mansion of his idol, “Bartok the Great.” He joins Bartok and his mysterious delegation to raise the spirit of an ancient demon for a once-in-a-lifetime ritual. Though not everything is as it seems… Starring Olivia Taylor Dudley, Jeffrey Combs, Arden Myrin, Barbara Crampton, and Bowser as Onyx. Our friends from Bloody Disgusting describe this trailer as feeling “like it came off an early 90s VHS cassette that played ahead of the ‘feature presentation.'” Yes, please. A goofy 80s throwback horror comedy? I’m down. Playing in theaters for just one night in October before it’s streaming on Screambox – check it out.

Misunderstood by all who know him, Marcus J. Trillbury (Andrew Bowser), aka “Onyx the Fortuitous” (on TikTok), is struggling to find purpose in his soul-devouring side gig. But just when it seems he’s ready to throw in the towel, he receives a coveted invitation to the mansion of his idol Bartok the Great (Jeffrey Combs) for a ritual to raise the spirit of an ancient demon. Ecstatic, he joins with Bartok, his mysterious delegate Farrah (Olivia Taylor Dudley), and a collection of other fellow devotees as they prepare for the ceremony, but quickly it becomes apparent things are not what they seem. As Onyx and his new friends fight to keep their souls, he must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in order to meet his destiny. Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls is both written and directed by the American YouTuber / actor / filmmaker Andrew Bowser, making his feature directorial debut after numerous short films and other projects previously. Produced by Clark Baker, Olivia Taylor Dudley, and Michael Mobley. Fathom Events will screen Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls in theaters for one night only on October 19th, 2023 this fall. It will then debut streaming on Screambox after the event.
