“It’s me and you against the whole wide world.” Brainstorm Media along with Signature Ent. have revealed an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Marmalade, marking the feature directorial debut of actor Keir O’Donnell. It’s set for a small theatrical + VOD launch in early February coming up in just a few weeks. The “edge-of-the-seat crime-tinged romance tale” film follows a man in prison who narrates the colorful tale of a romantic bank heist to his cunning cellmate, in order to plot an escape and reunite with the alluring love of his life. His cellmate Otis is a man with a well-versed history of prison breaks, and two try to help reunite Baron with her. Joe Keery stars as Baron, with Aldis Hodge as Otis, and Camila Morrone as Keery’s lover Marmalade. This was filmed in & around Minnesota, including in Stillwater. This just makes me want to watch The Shawshank Redemption all over again. Looks like a fun but instantly forgettable crime movie.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Keir O’Donnell’s Marmalade, direct from YouTube:
Marmalade is an edge-of-the-seat crime-tinged romance tale. Recently incarcerated Baron (Keery) strikes up a friendship with cellmate Otis (Hodge), a man with a well-versed history of prison breaks. As the pair hatch an escape plan together, Baron recalls the story of how he met Marmalade (Morrone), the love of his life, and their “Bonnie and Clyde” style scheme to rob a bank in order to care for his sick mother and give the couple the life they’ve always dreamed of. Marmalade is both written and directed by Australian actor / filmmaker Keir O’Donnell, making his feature directorial debut with this film. Produced by Sarah Gabriel, Marc Goldberg, James Harris, Mark Lane, and Jason Shapiro. This hasn’t premiered at any film festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Brainstorm Media + Signature Ent. will debut Keir O’Donnell’s Marmalade in select US theaters + on VOD starting February 9th, 2024 coming soon this winter. Anyone into this film?
