“It is spreading like a disease – any of us could be next!” Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for a sci-fi mystery indie film titled Monolith, made down in Australia by filmmaker Matt Vesely as his feature directorial debut following a few other shorts. This first premiered in 2022 at the Adelaide Film Festival in Australia, with screenings at SXSW, Overlook, Fantasy Filmfest, FrightFest, & Screamfest in 2023. The film stars Lily Sullivan as a journalist whose investigative podcast uncovers an artifact, an alien conspiracy, leading her to uncover the lies at the heart of her own story. Through the clever containment of a single location and only one on-screen character, Monolith surveils a disgraced journalist who turns to podcasting, before uncovering a strange artifact that she believes is evidence of an alien conspiracy. The small cast also includes voices of Ling Cooper Tang, Ansuya Nathan, Erik Thomson, and Terence Crawford. This looks like a psychological thriller mixed with horror mixed with alien conspiracy drama. Check it out below.
Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Matt Vesely’s Monolith, direct from Well Go’s YouTube:
While trying to salvage her career, a disgraced journalist (Lily Sullivan) begins investigating a strange conspiracy theory for her podcast. But as the trail leads uncomfortably close to home, she is left to grapple with the lies at the heart of her own story. Monolith is directed by Australian writer / producer / filmmaker Matt Vesely, making his feature directorial debut after a few other short films previously, as well as other work producing & writing for TV in Australia. The screenplay is written by Lucy Campbell. It’s produced by Bettina Hamilton. This initially premiered at the 2022 Adelaide Film Festival a few years ago, with stops at the 2023 SXSW and Overlook Film Festivals. Well Go USA will debut Matt Vesely’s Monolith film in select US theaters + on VOD starting February 16th, 2024 this winter. Who’s curious about this? Look freaky?
