Behind each bite there’s always something bigger at work.” Apple has revealed an official trailer for a streaming series titled Omnivore, a food lover series created by the famous Danish chef René Redzepi (owner of world-renowned restaurant Noma). Arriving for streaming next week – not long of a wait at all. Just don’t start watching this series when you are hungry. “Food is the language that everyone understands.” This new series that explores the people, places, and ingredients that shape us all. For anyone who forgot, an “omnivore” is an animal that has the ability to eat and survive on both plant & animals. From Peruvian salt flats to Rwandan coffee forests, explore and celebrate the ingredients that built societies, shaped beliefs, and forever altered the tapestry of humanity. Narrated by renowned Redzepi, each episode of Omnivore celebrates the way we grow, transform and consume the world’s best resources — the ones we eat. Focusing on eight of the world’s most vital ingredients in our food: bananas, chilies, coffee, corn, pork, rice, salt, and tuna. Yep this one ain’t for vegans. As a major foodie, I will definitely be watching.

Created & narrated by René Redzepi, esteemed chef and co-owner of the restaurant Noma, Omnivore takes viewers on an immersive journey into the world of food, exploring the profound beauty and intricate complexities of the human experience through the lens of the key ingredients that connect us all. Each episode of Omnivore celebrates the cultivation, transformation, & consumption of eight of the world’s most essential ingredients: bananas, chilies, coffee, corn, pork, rice, salt, and tuna – revealing how they serve as the cornerstones of global cultural heritage. Redzepi and Emmy Award-winning executive producer Matt Goulding (Anthony Bourdain: Explore Parts Unknown) guide audiences on a globe-spanning odyssey, unveiling intricate stories behind the ingredients that have shaped societies, cultures, beliefs and the course of human history. The series takes viewers to destinations around the world, including Denmark, Serbia, Thailand, Spain, Japan, Djibouti, Peru, South Korea, France, Colombia, India, Bali, Rwanda and Mexico, as well as locations throughout the US. In each episode, Redzepi + various series contributors offer an intimate exploration of culinary traditions, showcasing local efforts to honor, conserve and protect Earth’s offerings.
Omnivore is a streaming series created by Danish chef René Redzepi (follow him @reneredzepinoma) for Noma Projects. It’s also developed by filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga. With episodes directed by filmmaker Drea Cooper. It’s executive produced by René Redzepi, Matt Goulding, Chris Rice, Ben Liebmann, Michael Antinoro, Max Wagner, Collin Orcutt, and Mateo Willis.
