“Nothing happened, man! You’re too easy to rile up.” Dark Sky Films has debuted the trailer for a dark & depraved road trip horror film titled A Desert, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Joshua Erkman. This originally premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival last year, then it played at FrightFest, Splat!FilmFest, and the Sitges Film Festival last fall. Arriving to watch in May in theaters. A past his prime photographer heads out on a road trip across the Southwest in hopes to recapture the magic & success of his previous work. Instead, he finds himself thrust into the dark & chaotic underbelly of America, unwittingly dragging his wife and a shady private detective into this nightmare with him. It stars David Yow as Harold, Kai Lennox, Sarah Lind, Zachary Ray Sherman, Rob Zabrecky, Ashley B. Smith, and Ashley B. Smith. Featuring a score by Ty Segall. With mostly good reviews, stating: “This gritty thriller by Erkman blends Hitchcockian mystery with the urbanoia chills of a Texas Chain Saw Massacre…” This looks freaky.
