“Fear not. Despair not. Darkness won’t last forever.” Netflix has revealed the full trailer for a Mexican film titled Hurricane Season, which will be streaming on Netflix worldwide for anyone to watch in November. Originally known as Temporada de Huracanes in Spanish, it’s adapted from the book of the same name by Fernanda Melchor. Hurricane season is coming in strong. Four souls in search of redemption confront the relentless storm of their destiny in a world where violence fills a space that should belong to love. From filmmaker Elisa Miller, starring Paloma Alvamar, Andrés Cordova, Ernesto Meléndez, Kat Rigoni, and Edgar Treviño. The book has an eerie opener: “Hurricane Season takes place in a world filled with mythology and violence – real violence, the kind that seeps into the soil, poisoning everything around: it’s a world that becomes more terrifying and more terrifyingly real the deeper you explore it.” If that doesn’t get your attention, then perhaps this footage will? Showcasing some superb cinematography – it’s worth a look.
Here’s the first official trailer for Elisa Miller’s Hurricane Season, direct from YouTube:
Book description: A group of children find a corpse floating in the murky waters of an irrigation canal near the La Matosa rancheria. The body turns out to be that of the Witch, a woman who inherited this trade from her deceased mother, and whom the inhabitants of that rural area respected and feared. After the macabre discovery, suspicion and gossip will fall on a group of young people from the village, whom a neighbor saw a few days earlier as they fled the sorceress’s house, carrying what appeared to be an inert body. From there, the characters involved in the crime will tell us their story while readers immerse in the life of this place beset by misery and abandonment, and where the violence of darker eroticism and sordid power relations converge. Hurricane Season, originally known as Temporada de Huracanes in Spanish, is directed by Mexican filmmaker Elisa Miller, director of the films Alicia Go Yonder, The Pleasure Is Mine, Don’t Blame Karma, and the doc About Sarah previously. The screenplay is written by Elisa Miller and Daniela Gómez, adapted from the novel by Fernanda Melchor. Produced by Woo Films. Netflix will release Hurricane Season streaming on Netflix worldwide on November 1st, 2023 coming up. Who’s interested?
