“Is it just me or do we need some champagne?” 🍾 Bleecker Street has revealed the first official trailer for a comedy called The Fabulous Four, arriving in theaters soon at the end of July right in the middle of the summer movie season. This looks damn good! The trailer first debuted during the Tony Awards broadcast yesterday – a good fit because Bette Midler most recently won a Tony Award for her acclaimed role in Hello, Dolly a few years ago and also Sheryl Lee Ralph first rose to prominence for her Tony Award-nominated role as “Deena Jones” in the first Broadway production of Dreamgirls. In The Fabulous Four, two friends travel to Key West, Florida to be bridesmaids in a surprise wedding of their college girlfriend – rekindling their sisterhood amid drinks and romance. Bette Midler stars as Marilyn, the one getting married, with Megan Mullally, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Susan Sarandon as her friends. This all sounds kooky and quirky, and the footage is surprisingly even better than expected. Could end up being a sleeper hit next month! Dive in.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Jocelyn Moorhouse’s The Fabulous Four, direct from YouTube:
If three’s a crowd, four’s a party! The Fabulous Four is an uproarious comedy about a group of life-long friends (Megan Mullally, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Susan Sarandon) who travel to Key West, Florida, to be bridesmaids in the surprise wedding of their best college friend Marilyn (Bette Midler). Over the course of one outrageous trip, sisterhoods are rekindled, the past resurfaces, and there are enough sparks, raunch, and romance to change all their lives in unexpected ways. The Fabulous Four is directed by the Australian writer / filmmaker Jocelyn Moorhouse, director of the films Proof, How to Make an American Quilt, A Thousand Acres, and The Dressmaker previously, plus episodes of the series “Wakefield”, “Savage River”, and “Boy Swallows Universe” most recently. The screenplay is co-written by Ann Marie Allison and Jenna Milly. It’s produced by Lauren Hantz and Richard Barton Lewis. Bleecker Street will debut Moorhouse’s The Fabulous Four in theaters nationwide starting on July 26th, 2024 this summer. Who wants to watch this?
