“I don’t know how it started… It’s like a hole opened in the world – to the center of nothingness…” FX has revealed a very eerie teaser trailer for the new Ryan Murphy horror series called Grotesquerie. It’s set for a streaming debut in September this fall just in time for this year’s horror season. In Ryan Murphy’s 10-episode event, a series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan. However, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers. Grotesquerie stars Niecy Nash-Betts as Lois, Courtney B. Vance as Marshall Tryon, Lesley Manville as Nurse Redd, Micaela Diamond as Sister Megan, plus Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Father Charlie, Raven Goodwin as Merritt Tryon, and strangely it also has football player / Taylor Swift boyfriend Travis Kelce. This is an exceptional teaser, extra stylish and so mysterious. I dig all the swirling purples, neon reds, and unsettling vibes. Yep that footage got my attention.
Here’s the first teaser trailer (+ poster) for FX’s horror series Grotesquerie, direct from YouTube:
A series of heinous crimes have unsettled a community. Det. Tryon (Niecy Nash-Betts) feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons. With no leads & unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), a journalist and nun with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers. Grotesquerie is a series created & written by TV creator and writer Ryan Murphy (“Nip/Tuck”, “Glee”, “American Crime Story”, “Pose”, “9-1-1”, “Ratched”, “American Horror Stories”, “Monster”) along with Jon Robin Baitz & Joe Baken. Featuring episodes directed by Max Winkler, Alexis Martin Woodall, Ryan Murphy, Elegance Bratton.
