“I can’t be a part of this!” “You already are.” Dark Star Pictures has revealed an official trailer for an indie revenge horror thriller called Abigail, not to be confused with the other horror revenge thriller Becky and its sequel this year The Wrath of Becky. Similar ideas but not really the same… Set in 1976, a troubled teen befriends her bullied neighbor, seeking revenge on his tormentors, but her obsession turns deadly. Abigail takes a liking to the lonely boy next door and helps him fight back. As she takes him under her wing, the secrets of her past begin to surface. Starring Ava Cantrell, Tren Reed-Brown, Hermione Lynch, Gene Farber, and Karimah Westbrook. So is the twist in this that she is some kind of badass serial killer or something? A strange film, the footage does not look good. Makes sense they’re dumping it on VOD this fall.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Melissa Vitello’s Abigail, direct from Dark Star’s YouTube:
In 1976, troubled teen, Abigail and her mother move to a small Alabama town in hopes of escaping the girl’s violent past. She befriends the boy next-door, Lucas, who is mercilessly bullied by a group of kids at school. Determined to help him seek revenge, Abigail takes matters into her own hands, but quickly spirals out of control. As Lucas begins to uncover the dark and twisted nature of his new friend, things take a deadly turn. Now, he must choose between standing by her side or stopping her before it’s too late. Abigail is directed by indie producer / filmmaker Melissa Vitello, director of the films Speak Now, The Sound of Settling, Community Theater Christmas, and a producer on many other films previously. The screenplay is written by Gunnar Garrett. It’s produced by Stacy Snyder and Melissa Vitello. Dark Star Pictures will debut Vitello’s Abigail direct-to-VOD to watch starting on December 5th, 2023 this fall. Interested in this one?
